KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today said that the Ministry of Health (MoH) has not received any report on the emergence of a Covid-19 cluster linked to the #Lawan rally.

He said this in response to a question posed during a press conference today, asking if there had been any cluster from the rally, after a social media post claimed that a participant of the gathering was Covid-19 positive.

"So we saw the reports which we received from social media users, on one post saying that someone who had attended the rally was infected.

"However, the MoH cannot ascertain the news and we cannot verify the legitimacy of the news. So investigations are still ongoing. However, to date, there are no reports of any cluster linked to the said rally,” Dr Noor Hisham said.

He was responding to a viral social media post in which a man claimed that his brother had taken part in the rally while infected with Covid-19, and later caused all their family members to contract the virus, with their father diagnosed with a category five infection.

The post led to criticism of the youths who had taken part in the July 31 rally to demand Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation, the reopening of Parliament, and automatic loan moratorium for all.
