Covid-19 cases up to 1,889 on Ramadan Day Two; Selangor overtakes Sarawak with 517 cases

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — Malaysia recorded another 1,889 new Covid-19 infections today, bringing the total number of infected to 365,829 as of today.

Selangor topped the states with 517 cases followed by Sarawak (489 cases), Kelantan (229 cases) Sabah (142 cases), Kuala Lumpur (134 cases), Penang (92 cases) and Johor (84 cases).

Other states with double digit cases today are: Perak (56 cases), Kedah (53), Negri Sembilan (51 cases), Pahang (14 cases) and Terengganu (14 cases).

 Those who saw single digits are Putrajaya (eight cases), Melaka (six cases) and Labuan (one case).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said on Facebook that there were also another seven new clusters today.

The death toll now stands at 1,353 following eight more deaths today. Seven of them were Malaysians.

The oldest was an 89-year-old woman, four were aged 70 and above while the rest were aged 60 and below.

There are 204 patients in the internal care unit with 79 of them on the ventilator

Of the seven new clusters today, six were workplace clusters found in Sabah, Penang, Melaka and Selangor while one was a "community” cluster in Selangor as well.

The total number of clusters to date is 1,485 of which 1, 144 have ended including 10 today.

Active Covid-19 cases stand at 16,696.
