Sarawak fully recovers from floods, last two relief centres closed

KUCHING, Feb 21 — The floods that hit Sarawak again since Friday has receded and the situation returned to normal today with the last two temporary evacuation centres in the Samarahan district having been closed at 10am today.

The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat confirmed the closure of the relief centres at the Kampung Entingan Multipurpose Hall and Kampung Nangka Community Hall in Samarahan. 

All 67 evacuees who were placed in the two relief centres have been allowed to return to their respective homes. Weather conditions around the affected district have also improved since yesterday.

Just about a month after the first wave of floods hit Sarawak, several places in Kuching were once again hit by the disaster on Friday, following incessant rain. — Bernama
