KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 — The Health Ministry today reported 4,214 new Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths, bringing the daily number to below the 5,000-case mark after three days.
This brings the total national cumulative cases to 219,173, active cases to 48,074 and deaths to 770.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country also saw a high number of recoveries at 4,280 cases.
This brings the cumulative recoveries to 170,329 or 77.7 per cent.
Selangor still leads as the state with highest Covid-19 positive cases recording 1,362 (32.3 per cent).
"From this number, 967 cases were detected from cluster and close contact screening.
"This is followed by Johor, which recorded 1,068 cases (25.3 per cent) and Kuala Lumpur with 702 cases (16.7 per cent),” said Dr Noor Hisham.
As many as 115 positive cases were recorded from lockup, prison and immigration detention centre clusters.
Meanwhile, deaths were recorded from Negri Sembilan (three), and one each in Johor, Labuan, Sarawak, Selangor, Perak, Melaka and Terengganu.
"All deaths were of Malaysian citizens,” he said.
