KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 — Kelantan will come under a two-week conditional movement control order (CMCO) from tomorrow due to rising Covid-19 cases there, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

Kelantan had been one of only three states in the peninsula that did not come under the CMCO earlier this month.

The senior defence minister also announced that the CMCO would end in Johor, Kedah, Melaka and Terengganu tomorrow, ahead of the original expiry on December 9.

Ismail said the decision to enforce a CMCO in Kelantan came after the National Security Council (MKN) received advice from the Ministry of Health (MoH) regarding the rise of Covid-19 cases in several districts and localities in the state.

"The implementation of the CMCO is to enable the MoH to conduct targeted screening and to reduce movement in the community throughout the statement,” he said during a press conference today.

The standard operating procedure (SOP) for the CMCO in Kelantan will be the same as those previously announced, which can be found at the MKN website. The CMCO in the state is scheduled to end on December 6.

Meanwhile, Ismail said that the decision to end the CMCOs in Johor, Kedah, Melaka and Terengganu was made because Covid-19 cases in the states have reduced to a level that is controllable.

However, certain districts in the states will continue to be under CMCO due to prevailing high number of Covid-19 cases. These districts are Kulim in Kedah, along with Kota Tinggi and Mersing in Johor.

Ismail reminded the public that although these states are released from the CMCO, they will still have to follow the SOP of the recovery movement control order (RMCO) enforced nationwide.
