Ismail Sabri says 446 individuals arrested yesterday for violating RMCO

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — The authorities arrested a total of 446 individuals yesterday for breaching regulations enforced under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in his press briefing from the total number of arrests 407 individuals were compounded, 37 individuals were remanded while two others were granted bail.

"Among the offences committed were not wearing face masks (212 cases), business failing to record customers details (85), not adhering to social distancing (72) and individuals arrested at private parties (32), gambling (23) and the remaining were among other types of violations,” he said.

On Ops Benteng, he said that authorities arrested 84 undocumented migrants, three skippers and 10 land vehicles yesterday following 136 roadblocks held nationwide.

From July 24 to October 12, Ismail Sabri said a total of 47,068 individuals have returned to the country through international border entry points.

"Out of the total, 9,524 individuals are undergoing compulsory quarantine at 68 hotels and 187 other premises including public training institutes and private educational institutions in various states.

"Meanwhile, 381 individuals have been taken to hospital for treatment and 37,163 individuals were discharged and allowed to return home,” he said.

He urged the public to come forward and provide any information to curb the entrance of migrants.
