Malaysia records another Covid-19 death, 14 new cases

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 ― Another Covid-19 patient has died to bring Malaysia’s death toll from the disease to 128, Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah announced today.

He also disclosed that there were 14 new cases since yesterday, five of which were imported.

On the latest death, he said the deceased was an elderly woman with a history of lung cancer and hypertension.

Dr Noor Hisham said the 80-year-old woman had been on a ventilator since August 24.

He said that 21 people, meanwhile, had recovered and were discharged.

"Of the 14 new cases reported, five are imported cases who had contracted the infection abroad, and all involve foreigners,” Dr Noor Hisham added.

"Five of those cases are from Ukraine (one case in Selangor), Pakistan (one case in Selangor), Indonesia (one case in Selangor) and the Philippines (two cases in Sabah).

"Of the nine local infection cases, five involve Malaysians and four cases involve foreigners.”
