Covid-19: New cases rise to 20 today, with 13 local transmissions

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — Malaysia today recorded 20 new Covid-19 cases, up from 15 yesterday, bringing the total number of infections to 9,149.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) posted on its Facebook page that seven cases were imported while 13 were local transmissions.

There were no recorded deaths today, keeping the death toll at 125.

There are four individuals who are in the intensive care unit, with one of them on the ventilator. Seven individuals have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 8,828.

Of the seven import cases, six are locals with one foreigner. They returned from Lebanon (3), Indonesia, Yemen, Taiwan and France.

Besides that, all the local transmission originated from Kedah where there are two active clusters in Tawar and Muda. The Tawar cluster recorded 11 new infections today, with one case in Muda while another case was due to severe acute respiratory illness.
