KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 — A total of 75 people were arrested for violating standard operating procedures under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) yesterday, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.

In a statement today, Ismail said that three have been remanded while the rest were issued with compounds.

He said all were arrested for gathering in large crowds that did not observe social distancing limits in place during the RMCO.

"Among the MCO offences include activities which involved the presence of numerous people, making social distancing difficult and activities that violated the SOP,” Ismail said in the statement, referring to the standard operating procedure introduced during the RMCO.

Some 2,645 monitoring teams comprising 10,948 personnel have conducted 61,246 inspections yesterday said, Ismail.

They performed checks on 3,689 malls, 5,588 restaurants, 1,621 vendors, 1,239 factories, 3,672 banks and 857 government offices.

Surveillance was also conducted at 1,080 land transportation terminals, 321 water terminals and 13 air terminals.

Apart from that, the Construction Industry Development Board did checks on 57 construction sites involving 118 officers.

"They found six sites not complying with the SOPs in place and have been advised accordingly while two more sites were out of commission,” said Ismail.
