36 new Covid-19 cases reported in Malaysia today, no deaths, says Health D-G

KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 36 new novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases were reported in Malaysia as of noon today.

Out of the 36 cases, 28 are non-Malaysians, bringing the total number of active cases to 1,304.

"Fourteen cases are being treated at intensive care units, with five in need of ventilators.

"No deaths were reported today,” he said during the Health Ministry’s daily briefing on the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

On an update of Covid-19 clusters, Dr Noor Hisham said there were no additional cases reported at enhanced movement control order (EMCO) location Selayang Baru (52), while there was one new case detected outside the Jalan Othman wet market EMCO area, bringing the total number of cases in the cluster to 28 from the initial 26.

Other active clusters are Kampung Sungai Lui where 10 positive cases were recorded (total 184), nine new cases recorded from the security personnel cluster in Cheras (total 24), two new cases from the Pudu cluster (total 32), one new case in Pedas cluster (total 162) and one new case recorded from Benus cluster in Pahang (total five).

"No additional cases were reported for other clusters,” he said.
