KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — Malaysia recorded 30 new Covid-19 cases today, the lowest number since the movement control order (MCO) was implemented.
The previous record low was 31 in April 28.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 infection in the country to 6,383 cases.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) also announced that 83 patients have been discharged, with one death recorded, bringing the total number of cumulative deaths to 106 and the total cumulative for discharged cases to 4,567.
He said that the 30 cases recorded today, which brings the total number of Covid-19 active cases to 1,710, stemmed from local clusters, with no imported cases.
"It is to be noted that of the 30 new cases today, no import cases were reported.
"This means that the 30 cases are local infection cases, whereby 21 cases were identified from clusters and localities under the enforced movement control order (EMCO).
"To date, 24 Covid-19 positive cases are being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU). Of this number, eight patients need ventilators,” Dr Noor Hisham said.
He said that the sole fatality recorded today is a 47-year-old Malaysian, who was admitted into a private hospital on March 15 before being transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital a day later after testing positive for Covid-19.
He died at 2.10am this morning.
