KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — A survey by Vasa.ai showed consumer purchase behaviour has been influenced in tandem with the progress of the Covid-19 outbreak and the extension of the movement control order (MCO), altering consumer needs and wants.
The online survey involved 1082 Malaysians throughout the country to assess consumer purchase behaviour.
According to the survey, top offline grocers frequented by consumers since the MCO are local supermarkets, 99 Speedmart, and Tesco, while the top online stores are Tesco Online and Mydin Online.
Concurrently, 27 per cent of the consumers are still participating in online sales and promotions of non-food items with15 per cent of them agreed that items sold online are currently cheaper.
However, 29 per cent of the consumer indicated buying online is more expensive, possibly due to the limited supplies.
The survey also showed an increased interest in the acquisition of products that maintain the consumer wellbeing as 91 per cent of them purchased personal hygiene items and 86 per cent of consumers bought face masks, hand sanitisers or disinfectants. — Bernama
