KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 ― After severe backlash from internet users, the Mont Kiara Consultative Council (MKCC) has come out and defended themselves by claiming most of its residents are abiding by the movement control order (MCO).

The criticisms came after videos on the internet showed Mont Kiara residents still jogging, walking their dogs or taking their babies on a stroll.

MKCC chairman Carol Lee said it was unfair to blame the entire community for the actions of the few and insisted that they are taking steps to help curb the spread of Covid-19.

"The community which comprises the Management Council members, Management Office team, residents and the rest of the community, have put in so much effort to abide by and enforce the MCO and also encourage others to follow suit.

"The majority of the residents have not left their homes, other than to buy essential items.”

She added that there is even an initiative by the Mont Kiara Running Club to encourage people to stay indoors and exercise at home.

She also said most, if not all the condominiums around the area have closed their gyms, swimming pools, playgrounds and recreational sporting facilities to comply with the MCO.
