KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 ― Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail congratulates the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al Musta'in Billah Shah who is picked as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
"Congratulations to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah in conjunction with his appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Long live the King,” she said in her notes on her Twitter.
Sultan Abdullah was today picked as the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year period effective January 31, 2019. His selection was made at the 251st (Special) Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara today.
According to a statement from the Keeper of the Royal Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad today, the meeting also picked the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the same period.
Defence Minister Mohammad Sabu through his Twitter said : "Congratulations to Sultan Abdullah on your appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Long live the king”.
The Mentri Besar of Johor Datuk Osman Sapian also expressed his contratulations to Sultan Abdullah on his appointment as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
"As the head of the state government representing the government and the people of Johor Darul Ta'zim, I congratulate the Sultan of Pahang and the Sultan of Perak on being picked as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he told reporters in Johor Bahru.
Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak also shared his happiness by expressing his congratulation on his Twitter and Facebook.
"Heartiest congratulations to Al-Sultan Abdullah on Tuanku’s appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Long live the king,” he said.
Former Minister of Defence Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein who uploaded his photograph with the Sultan on his Instagram account, said : "Long live the king. Congratulations to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah, Sultan of Pahang Darul Makmur on his appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong”.
The Mentri Besar of Perak Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the decision of the Conference of Rulers in picking Sultan Abdullah and Sultan Nazrin Shah, respectively, as Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agong simultaneously maintained the continuity of the constitutional monarcy in the country.
"The state government offers its utmost congratulation to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’atuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah on their appointments for a five-year term from January 31,” he said in a statement today.
According to Ahmad Faizal, the state government prayed for Sultan Abdullah to continue to be given good health and guidance as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali through his Twitter said: "Congratulations to the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah on his appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Long live the king,” he said.
He also congratulated Sultan Nazrin Shah who was picked as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the announcement of Sultan Abdullah as the nation’s 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong augured well in the fostering of unity among the various races.
He said the newly elected King was well trained to lead Malaysia towards prosperity as well as national unity.
"Definitely Sarawak will cooperate with the new King and we will move forward together,” he told Bernama after officating at the opening of the Iljin Materials Malaysia Sdn Bhd plant at Sama Jaya High Tech Park in Kuching.
Mentri Besar of Selangor Amirudin Shari said the appointment of Sultan Abdullah as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong would hopefully make the journey and the implementation of the Malaysian administration specifically, and the state of Selangor in general, better and more orderly.
"As the Menteri Besar of Selangor, I laud his appointment as Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Representing the people of Selangor, I also wish to congratulate Sultan Abdullah,” he told reporters after a ceremony to hand over a Selangor HIJRAH financing in Shah Alam today.
Port Dickson Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also congratulated Sultan Abdullah through his Twitter: "A heartfelt congratulation to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah in conjunction with his appointment as the 16th Yang Dipertuan Agong. Long live the king”.
Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Bakar through his Twitter said: "On behalf of the Public service personnel, I offer our outmost congratulations to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in conjunction with his appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year period from Jan 31, 2019. Long live the king.
He also congratulated Sultan Nazrin Shah on his appointment as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the same period.
Mentri Besar of Negri Sembilan Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun also expressed his congratulations today to Sultan Abdullah who was picked to the post.
Former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his Facebook, said: "Heartfelt congratulations to the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Abdullah Ria'yatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah al-Musta'in Billah on his appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong”. ― Bernama
