KAJANG, June 24 — A Magistrates’ Court here has dismissed the police’s request for a remand against lawyer Siti Kasim, who was arrested last night for allegedly obstructing public servants from dispensing their duties.

Siti will now be released immediately.

Her lawyer Rajsurian Pillai said his client will continue to co-operate with the police in their investigations.

"She will appear whenever the police need her, with reasonable notice,” he told the Malay Mail.

Rajsurian added that Siti’s legal team has not yet ruled out any further possibility of taking civil action in court against any of the relevant authorities involved, since he claimed their arrest of his client was a misuse of their power.

He also said they would assist Siti with regards to the Anis case.

"Actually we have already been assisting her together with several other NGOs.

"It is just that she has gone ahead and appeared first. We have always provided her with backup from the back,” he said.
