GEORGE TOWN, June 1 — About 200 orphans were feted with a mix of local and international cuisine in a buka puasa event at The Top today.

The orphans, aged between four and 15 years old, are from various homes under Kiwanis Club of Bukit Kiara and Penang Central.

The children got to enjoy about 60 different types of dishes that included western favourites such as burgers, fish and chips and spaghetti with a scenic 360-degree view of the whole of George Town from Level 59 of Komtar.

Only World Group Holdings Berhad (OWG) chief executive officer and founder Tan Sri Richard Koh said the event was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

"While we celebrate our day-to-day success, we are also sensitive to the needs of children who have lost their parents or being brought up by single mothers,” he said.

He hoped that this buka puasa event will motivate the children to strive harder in life.

"When they are grown up and successful one day, they could in turn help others who are in need,” he said.

OWG owns The Top which is an indoor theme park in Komtar.

Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng represented Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to grace the event.

After the dinner, the children were treated to a visit to The Top’s Jurassic Research Centre.

The Jurassic Research Centre, touted to be the largest in Malaysia, is an interactive theme park complete with animated dinosaurs.

The Top has several indoor theme parks that included a 7D Discovery Motion Theatre, Penang State Gallery, Top Boutique Aquarium and Window of The Top.
