KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today said she supported the idea of allowing Umno members to join Pakatan Harapan (PH) as long as everyone is on the same page.

She said what is more important is that everyone works towards the agenda of nation-building.

"We are always excited if anyone wants to join us. We want all Malaysians to come together to rebuild the nation that we love anyway.

"Admittedly, there are differences in opinion but when we reach a point where the people have the final say, we only care about having a solid government for all,” she told reporters after attending an event in Lembah Pantai today.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also the Pakatan Harapan chairman, contradicted his prior stance by saying the coalition will now accept Umno members if they had first became "independent”.

He reportedly said that the coalition receives some 1,000 membership applications daily and that a bulk of the applicants are from Umno — a component party of Barisan Nasional.
