KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 ― The Terengganu government-linked companies’ 900 staff appointed by the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition will not lose their jobs under the new PAS administration.

The state’s new Mentri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the political appointees may quit on their own, but gave an assurance there would not be any removal during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, The Star daily reported today.

"Some may resign, transfer to other units or reach the end of their contracts.

"So to say that some 900 people will be let go is incorrect.

"No one will be removed during Ramadan,” he was quoted saying.

He also said these staff would not be terminated without an assessment of the situation.

In the 14th general elections, Barisan Nasional (BN) lost the state of Terengganu to PAS.

BN had won only 10 out of the 32 Terengganu state seats, while PAS had won 22 seats.
