PETALING JAYA, May 28 — Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today was amused when asked about a petition for him to be considered for the esteemed Nobel Peace Prize .

When asked his thoughts about Malaysians starting an online petition for him to be considered for the prize, Dr Mahathir laughed and said he was not "noble”.

"Nobel Prize for me? I’m not noble,” said the 92-year-old leader just before leaving a press conference.

The petition towards the Nobel Foundation on the Change.org platform was started by user Alexandria Abishegam, who said that Dr Mahathir had successfully led a change of the federal government in a peaceful and non-violent way.

Dr Mahathir’s daughter, Datin Paduka Marina, who thanked the signatories for the "really nice” effort had said that her father was never one who sought such recognition.

The petition has garnered over 101,732 signatures at the time of writing.
