KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — The former chief executive of content streaming platform iflix Malaysia is currently recovering in the Kuala Lumpur Hospital after he was hit by a car while cycling this morning along Jalan Duta.

Azran Osman Rani, 47, who now heads Naluri Hidup Sdn Bhd — a coaching and counselling company — was riding towards Jalan Kuching when a Proton Wira sedan struck his rear wheel.

The impact saw him to fall backwards onto car’s the windshield, cracking the glass, before he was thrown off onto the street during the 8.55am incident.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkefly Yahya said the driver of the black Wira, a 20-year-old student from Pandan Indah, failed to notice the cyclist as he was taking a left exit into Damansara.

"The driver then rammed into the victim as he was exiting, causing the cyclist injuries to his head and left hand,” he said.

The victim was then rushed to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment.

Zulkefly explained that weather conditions were clear during the time of the incident with the accident taking place along a three-lane street.

He said the case is being investigated as driving recklessly under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
