Suspect in college student’s murder remanded for seven days

PORT DICKSON, May 25 — A teenager detained in the murder of the Port Dickson Vocational College (KVPD) student in Taman PD Permata here last night, has been remanded for seven days to facilitate police investigations.

District police deputy chief DSP Mohd Faisal Mohd Noor said the 19-year-old suspect, who is the victim’s former boyfriend, was picked up at his rented house in Taman PD Idaman, Lukut at 10.45pm.

He said the police obtained the remand order, beginning today, from a Magistrate’s Court here.

"The police took only 15 minutes to track down the suspect (after the body of the victim was found),” he said here.

Nur Alya Damia Hairi, 19, was found dead with strangulation marks on her neck in some undergrowth in Taman PD Permata at about 10.30pm yesterday. — Bernama
