KUCHING, May 25 — State PKR Youth today urged Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) to return the RM1 million donation allegedly received from former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on two separate occasions just before the 2013 general election.

Sarawak PKR youth deputy chief Jeffery Mok Hui Chung said this is to clear and uphold SUPP’s integrity and reputation in the eyes of the public.

"We urge SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian to come clean and to facilitate MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) in their investigation on the troubled state sovereign fund 1MDB scandal,” Mok told reporters here.

Quoting Sarawak Report, he said SUPP was also apparently named as one of the beneficiaries from Najib’s "Saudi Donor” account.

He said two cheques worth RM500,000 each were issued separately to SUPP on February 9, 2012 and April 5, 2013 when Dr Sim was the party’s secretary general.

He said the two cheques bore the same account number through which Najib allegedly received "donation” from an Arab donor.

He recalled that Dr Sim had on May 6, 2016 denied that he had seen the alleged cheques issued by Najib to SUPP.

He said that Dr Sim’s reply showed that he only wanted to avoid answering the truth to voters.

"As secretary general then, he could not plead ignorance on not seeing the cheques,” he said.

Mok also urged MACC to conduct an investigation if there is any connection between 1MDB and the RM1 million donation to SUPP.

"If it is true, then SUPP must return the money back to the people,” he said.

Dr Sim could not be reached for comment.
