KOTA KINABALU, May 24 — Perlis police are prepared for any untoward incident following the reappointment Datuk Seri Azlan Man as Perlis mentri besar, as he was said to have not received the support from the majority of Perlis Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen.

State police chief Datuk Azisman Alias said they had prepared a contingency plan to face any possible scenario.

"I have ordered Arau Police District chief Supt Nanda Maarof to increase security at the Istana Arau today,” he told reporters here.

Azisman is here as part of Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail’s delegation to visit and monitor the Ops Pasir areas in Sabah, beginning today until Sunday.

Azlan took his oath of office as Perlis mentri besar for the second term before the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail at the Istana Arau today.

Perlis BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim at a media conference in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon announced that the Perlis Umno Liaison Committee had sacked Azlan from Umno effective immediately.

The announcement had received mixed reactions from the netizens, with some even posted insulting and provocative comments all over social media platforms.

However, Azisman said the situation was under control and the police had yet to receive any complaint or report from any quarters insulted by the comments.

"The palace’s staff can also take the screenshots of the insulting statements which were viralised as evidence for us to begin investigation,” he said.

In the May 9 general election, BN won 10 out of the 15 state seats in Perlis with Azlan securing the Bintong state seat. — Bernama
