KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 — A robbery suspect survived after being shot twice while three of his accomplices were arrested following an early morning pursuit today in Banting.

The drama unfolded at around 8.15am, as officers on patrol spotted the suspects in a grey Honda Civic driving around suspiciously in the area.

As the police patrol unit approached and requested for them to stop, the car instead sped off towards Jalan Bunga Pekan.

Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said a chase then ensued with several other patrol cars later called in for backup.

"The suspects’ vehicle then rammed two police cars, before losing control and crashing into the wall of a shop lot building.

He said as the police team attempted to corner the suspects after the crash, four suspects got out and tried to flee the scene on foot.

"One of them who were acting aggressively towards police was shot in the leg and shoulder. He was later brought to Hospital Banting for treatment under police watch and is currently stable,” he said.

Fadzil said all the suspects, aged between 20 to 30, were eventually apprehended from locations nearby, as police seized tools used usually used for house break-ins, and drug paraphernalia from the suspects’ vehicle.

He revealed all the suspects had previous records for criminal and drug related offences, adding that one of them is on the police wanted list.

He said police are investigating the case for attempted murder.
