KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — All Pakatan Harapan component parties must be consulted for the appointment of Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s successor as Selangor mentri besar, the state chapter of DAP said today.

The party’s state secretary Ean Yong Hian Wah said the consultation can be done through PH’s Presidential Council, the coalition’s executive decision-making body.

"As we are already aware, Azmin Ali will be made a federal minister soon, therefore, Pakatan Harapan must suggest a new leader for the post,” he said in a statement issued earlier today.

"Selangor DAP urge the Pakatan Harapan presidential council to convene and consult all component parties so we can appoint a leader that commands the support of all.”

Azmin has agreed to relinquish his post as Selangor MB to become minister of economic affairs.

Malay Mail was told that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had picked the PKR deputy president because he wanted the latter to replicate his success in governing the state at the federal level.

Yong, a former executive councillor, commended Azmin for what he described as a sterling performance.

"Selangor DAP stress that the new MB must uphold justice and work to implement all Pakatan Harapan’s pro-people policies,” he added.
