KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 — A vehicle thought to contain former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was seen leaving his home along Langgak Duta in Taman Duta here this morning.
The Toyota Estima was part of a five-vehicle convoy, said to include Najib’s lawyer and aides, escorted out by two police outriders at 9.20am.
Najib is believed to be headed towards his home town of Pekan, Pahang, where he is expected to attend several Umno events, including the launch of party division meetings where he is the chief there.
He is no longer Umno president, tendering his resignation from the post and that of Barisan Nasional chairman last Sunday.
The departure was preceded by a visit from Puteri Umno representatives, around 50 of whom met the Pekan MP at his front porch.
The visit was led by Tangga Batu Puteri Umno Division Chief Dira Abu Zahar who said the courtesy call was for them to show their support to Najib.
"We haven’t had the chance to meet him since the elections, so we wanted to come personally to show our support towards him,” she explained.
Dira described Najib to be in good spirits despite the circumstances in place surrounding police investigations.
"Some of us were actually surprised how welcoming he was.

"It was just a short visit, where he advised us to stick together, remain positive. Its a learning process for all us of,” she said when asked what advice was offered to them.
This comes as reporters remained stationed at the street corner of Najib’s private home, in anticipation for any major developments into a police investigations over a money laundering case.
Yesterday, Malay Mail reported Najib as claiming in a police report that he believed himself to be in danger from the investigation into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and requested to be placed in witness protection.
Members of the media have been keeping watch outside the house on Jalan Langgak Duta in shifts since Wednesday, when police conducted a search of the mansion and carted off 52 luxury handbags, 10 luxury watches and cash in various currencies amounting to RM623,747.
This is part of a probe into Najib, who is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act (AMLATFA) 2001.
