KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — The Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) says it is erroneous to say that it has agreed to the formation of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Felda.

It said this in a statement following a report carried by a news portal that the CEP had given its nod to the setting up such a royal commission.

The CEP said that in a meeting today with the National Felda Settlers’ Children’s Association (Anak), it took note of the point raised by Anak that the formation of the RCI on Felda was contained in the Pakatan Harapan manifesto.

"However, it’s not within the power of the Council to make a decision on such a matter. It’s therefore, incorrect to say that the Council has agreed to the formation of the RCI,” said the statement.

Anak chairman Mazlan Aliman had briefed CEP on the issues allegedly faced by Felda. — Bernama
