Dr M reveals Cabinet: Azmin as economic minister, newbie Maszlee for education

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad revealed the full list of his proposed Cabinet today, after an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.

In the audience held at 5pm, Dr Mahathir submitted a list of names which included the Selangor mentri besar and PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as the minister of economic affairs.

First-term MP Maszlee Malik from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) was named as Dr Mahathir’s replacement for education minister, after the latter dropped the post to honour a pledge in Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) manifesto.

Another first-term PPBM MP Rina Harun was named rural development minister.

From PKR, Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin was named minister of housing and local government.

Ministers from DAP who made the cut were Anthony Loke Siew Fook (transport), Gobind Singh Deo (communications and multimedia), and M. Kulasegaran (human resources).

Rounding up the list were Parti Amanah Negara members: Salahuddin Ayub (agriculture and agro-based industry) and Dzulkefly Ahmad (health).
