KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 — A white Toyota Vellfire luxury MPV believed to be carrying former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was seen leaving his mansion in Taman Duta here that is still being raided by police.

The MPV left the compound on Jalan Langgak Duta and headed towards Bukit Tunku at around 7.05pm escorted by two police outriders and a squad car.

The convoy is believed to be heading to an unnamed mosque in the city centre to perform prayers for the breaking of fast. Today is the first day of Ramadan.

Najib performed terawih prayers at the Kampung Baru Mosque yesterday.

Najib’s lawyer, Datuk Harpal Singh Grewal, previously told reporters the former PM is not under arrest and may leave the mansion as he pleases.

His wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, has not been seen the entire time.

Investigators are still trying to drill into a 20-year-old safe in Najib’s house as part of a larger investigation into state investment firm 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and have been at the property since 10pm yesterday.
