IPOH, May 16 — The Perak Class F Bumiputera Contractors Association (PERKOBF) wants the Pakatan Harapan state government to re-look at projects that were awarded to concessionaires by the previous administration.

Its president Zairol Hizam Zakaria said projects such as grass-cutting and road repairs were given to companies instead of Class F contractors.

"We want it to be removed as the awarding of contracts to concessionaires has cut our means of making a living,” he said.

Speaking at a media conference held at the association office here, Zairol said there are over 2,000 Class F contractors in Perak.

"We do not want projects to be monopolised by certain parties only. All jobs that are worth RM200,000 and below should be distributed fairly and transparently. We do not want the previous practice of contractors’ names being put in through politicians,” he said.

He also suggested that projects that are worth RM100,000 and below be chosen through balloting.

"Those who receive a contract in the first round should sit out the second available contract,” he explained.

He said a body can be appointed to oversee the balloting process to ensure transparency, adding that there are actually a lot of contracts available but they were monopolised under the previous administration.
