KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) chief executive Arul Kanda Kandasamy may be the next person to be barred from leaving the country.

Malaysiakini reported it found that Arul had also not been cleared from travelling, after crosschecking his identification card number with the Immigration Department’s blacklist database.

The Immigration Department has not yet confirmed such a ban on Arul.

Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor were confirmed to have been barred over the weekend.

Others who may have also been banned included on-leave attorney-general Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Irwan Serigar Abdullah, former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, and former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission head Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad.

The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) has since reminded the Immigration Department today that every Malaysian has the right to freedom of movement, including to travel overseas without prejudice.
