BUTTERWORTH, May 11 — PPBM today lodged a police report over the alleged dubious vote tallying process for the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary seat on May 9 polls.

Agent to Marzuki Yahaya of PKR-PPBM, Mohd Yusup Hashim, claimed that the Election Commission (EC) denied the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate a recount after he lost the seat by 81 votes to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, Datuk Shabudin Yahaya.

"We feel that the results displayed on the screen (at the vote tallying centre) are doubtful especially so when our application for a recount was denied by the EC,” he told reporters after lodging the report at the Sungai Dua police station here.

According to Mohd Yusup, the screen showed that there were 297 unreturned votes and 689 spoilt votes.

In the 14th General Election, Shahbudin retained the seat after he garnered 18,547 votes while Marzuki 18,466 votes. — Bernama
