Salleh Said says humbled by defeat in GE14

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak has described his defeat in the general election as something "not easy to take and most certainly very humbling”.

In an entry on his blog today, he also said that it made a person to reflect how he or she could remain graceful in the face of defeat.

"On 9th May 2018, the people have spoken and we have to abide by the wishes of the people in the spirit of ‘suara rakyat ialah suara keramat’ (the voice of the people is sacred),” he wrote.

Salleh also said that in politics there is no greater force than the will of the people, and they (the electoral candidates) have to accept whatever comes.

He also thanked Malaysians for having allowed him to serve the nation.

The former communication and multimedia minister lost in the four-cornered contest for the Kota Belud parliamentary seat in Sabah. The seat was won by Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis alias Fakharudy of Parti Warisan Sabah. — Bernama
