A LUMPUR, May 11-PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim watched the live-swearing in of former nemesis Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister last night at the Cheras rehabilitation hospital, where he is currently being warded after a surgery.

PKR’s Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin posted some pictures of him, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, and Anwar, at the ward.

"Thank God, the people’s victory enabled this to happen. Azmin Ali and I got to meet Anwar just now in Cheras. We pray that all processes will go on smoothly,” Dr Afif said in Twitter post.

Anwar, who is currently in jail over a sodomy charge will be released on June 8.

Anwar is also Pakatan Harapan’s PM-in-waiting, as Dr Mahathir is expected to pave way for him to take over once he is able to secure a royal pardon. Without a pardon, Anwar will not be able to run for office for the next five years after the date of his release.
