KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) today said it looked forward to having a close working relationship with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration.

ACCCIM said it hoped to assist Putrajaya in providing views and recommendations on economic policies through consultations and interaction sessions.

"ACCCIM is confident that the new government will formulate more policies that are open, equal and fair to all rakyat.

"As such, ACCCIM is committed to working closely with the government to strive for national unity and harmony, and mutual cooperation for the development and advancement of our country,” it said in a statement.

Dr Mahathir, who was sworn in as prime minister last night, announced the establishment of 10 federal ministries today, but postponed appointing its ministers to tomorrow.

The ministries are: Home Affairs, Defence, Education, Rural Development, Economy, Public Works, Transport, Multimedia, Science and Technology and Foreign Affairs.

Immediately after Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) victory in GE14 became apparent on May 9, Dr Mahathir told a news conference in Petaling Jaya that his PH regime will review all large-scale Chinese-backed projects, including the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL), a key link to China’s One Belt, One Road initiative.
