GEORGE TOWN, May 4 — Former Penang Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) president Datuk Gary Nair has pledged to run in the nude around Komtar here if any of the party’s 14 Penang candidates wins in the general election.

However, the 66-year-old who resigned from the party two weeks ago was confident he would not have to undo even a button.

"I will strip naked and run around Komtar if any one of them wins a seat,” he was quoted as saying by The Star yesterday.

PRM secretary-general Koh Swee Yong said the remarks were likely a continuation of Gary’s displeasure over PRM’s election strategy.

The former president had disagreed with the party’s decision to field candidates against Pakatan Harapan hopefuls, saying it would divide support among voters seeking change.

PRM is contesting in six parliamentary seats and 31 state seats in several states.

Koh is contesting the Taman Templer state seat in Selangor.

Last month, Gary said PRM had to be realistic about its limitations.
