PUNCAK ALAM, May 2 — The newly redrawn electoral boundaries that have created new parliamentary and state seats in Selangor was carried out independently by the Election Commission (EC), the state Barisan Nasional (BN) chief said today.

However, Tan Sri Noh Omar conceded that the redelineation exercise is an advantage to BN and could see it take back control of the country’s richest state this round after losing it in the last two consecutive general elections.

He also said the open conflict within the Pakatan Harapan (PH) pact’s four component party members against their leaders is good for BN.

"We did not ask for these two but we view them as advantages to BN and we are therefore confident of winning Selangor,” he told reporters after visiting SK Puncak Alam 2 here with BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Noh took a swipe at Umno veterans who have openly declared support for PH since official campaigning began last Saturday.

He said their BN candidates would not be demoralised by their attacks.

"I just wish to tell them that be grateful and thankful to the party that had shaped the persons they are today,” Noh said.

Former international trade and industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz had lashed out against BN in a recent Facebook posting in which she also said she would be supporting PH in GE14.

Tan Sri Rais Yatim, who is the government cultural and social affairs adviser, has been taking to social media even before nomination day last Saturday to vent his dissatisfaction with BN leaders who he branded "aloof” and "arrogant”.
