MUAR, May 2 — Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Muar parliamentary candidate Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said today he expects more of his campaign banners to be vandalised in the run up to the polls.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Youth chief said he will lodge a police report after several of his buntings were torn down, and at least two campaign banners were defaced.

"This will not be the first or last attempt and I think there will be a lot more coming,” he said.

The vandalised banners and buntings were located along Jalan Zamrud in Kampung Parit Bakar near here.

In some of the banners, his eyes and mouth were crossed out with black spray paint.

"I felt disappointed because this is not the kind of mature politics we like to bring.

"I don’t know why they feel threatened by the banners and buntings. It is not like we are condemning anyone but only stating what we could offer to the people,” he said.

Although Syed Saddiq refrained from pointing fingers at any party, he alleged that those who vandalised his campaign banners were doing so out of desperation.

"In front of my house in Taman Lembah Padang, you can see an overwhelming amount of BN flags and but not one flag is taken down,” he said, referring to Barisan Nasional.

"The same goes for PAS bunting and banners, which I pass by every day, but nothing happened to them as well. This is an example of the mature politics that we like to bring.”
