KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak pressed Barisan Nasional (BN) to redouble efforts to regain the Bandar Tun Razak federal seat, saying today it pained him that his late father’s namesake was no longer part of his coalition’s stable.

In his speech at an event with the BN election machinery and residents here, the BN chairman said the seat held a special place in his family’s heart and must be wrested back from the Opposition that won it two terms ago.

"I am aggrieved that Bandar Tun Razak is not ours anymore. We must change history.

"Help me, help the Razak family and give us back Bandar Tun Razak,” said Najib to loud cheers from the hundreds in attendance.

Najib said, he felt upset when he came to Bandar Tun Razak, as it is a place named after his father.

"How can a place named after my father not be under BN? Where did we go wrong? Now we got a chance to correct it, so mark the ‘dacing’ (scales),” he said, referring to the BN’s logo.

At the event he also urged Bandar Tun Razak voters to look at BN’s candidate Adnan Seman’s credentials and vote for him based on his capabilities.

"Adnan is a local and he understands the pulse of the people here, that is why we chose him. We don’t believe in fly-in candidates or those who move from one place to another,” said Najib, taking a swipe at the opposition.

Najib also reminded Adnan to ensure that he does not go against his division chief Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar.

"We don’t want any internal problems. No infighting should happen. All of you must work together,” he said.

MCA lost the Bandar Tun Razak seat to former PKR candidate Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in 2008. Khalid, the former Selangor mentri besar, won the seat again in 2013 with a bigger majority of 11,832 votes.
