KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — PKR had to replace its Bukit Melawati state seat candidate G. Sivamalar with Juwairiya Zulkifli at the very last minute after the former’s MyKad showed a Pahang address instead of the location she was contesting.
For state seats, the Election Commission’s Kuala Selangor returning officer Rahilah Rahmat said the address of the candidate must be within the same state.
"In Sivamalar’s case, she’s contesting for Bukit Melawati in Kuala Selangor but the address in her IC reads Raub, Pahang,” The Star Online quoted her as saying.
Rahilah reportedly said that the appointment letter of Juwairiya was faxed and the deposit for the state seat was made just in time.
Juwairiya will be taking on incumbent Jakiran Jacomah (BN) and Muhammad Rashid Muhammad Kassim (PAS).
As for the Kuala Selangor parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim (BN) will take on Dzulkefly Ahmad (Amanah) and Mohd Fakaruddin Ismail (PAS).
In Ijok, incumbent Idris Ahmad (PKR) will take on Parthiban Karuppiah (BN) and Kumaran Tamil (Parti Rakyat Malaysia).
Similarly, the Jeram state seat will be a three-cornered fight between Zahar Azlan Ariffin (BN), Mohd Noor Mohd Shahar (PAS) and Mohd Shaid Rosli (PPBM).
