Ex-second finance minister Husni to face PAS, PKR-PPBM for Tambun seat

IPOH, April 28 — Former second finance minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah, who is defending the Tambun parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election (GE14), faces a three-cornered fight with PAS and PKR-PPBM candidates.

Perak PAS Dewan Ulama deputy chief Muhamad Zulkifli Mohd Zakaria is the PAS candidate, while Perak PPBM chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu is the candidate for PKR-PPBM.

Returning Officer for Tambun, Nurdina Muhammad confirmed their nominations at the Dewan Sri Kledang Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Ipoh here, today.

Ahmad Husni, a former Tambun Umno division chief was Tambun MP for four terms since the GE10. For the Hulu Kinta state seat, which is in the Tambun parliamentary constituency, there will be a four-cornered fight among  BN candidate Datuk Aminuddin Md Hanafiah, who is defending his seat against Salleh Said of PAS,  PKR candidate Muhamad Arafat Varisai Mahamad and an Independent candidate S Murugiah.

A three-cornered fight will also take place for the Manjoi seat, another state seat in the Tambun parliamentary constrituency, with BN-Umno candidate Mohamad Ziad Mohamed Zainal Abidin defending his seat against PAS candidate Mohd Hafez Sabri and PKR-Amanah candidate Asmuni Awi, who is also Perak Amanah chairman.

The Tambun parliamentary constituency has a total of 107,763 registered voters, including 49,946 voters in Hulu Kinta and 57,817 voters in Manjoi. — Bernama
