KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — It is the battle of the ‘blues’ in Lembah Pantai as Barisan Nasional (BN) and PKR’s supporters came in droves to send off their candidate of choice to the nomination centre.

BN’s Datuk Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin was the first to enter the Bukit Bandaraya Community Centre to submit his nomination papers, alongside his proposer Datuk R. Narayan and seconder Lai Kong Fah.

He made his way into the centre with the army of some 200 supporters, all synchronised in blue t-shirts bearing the former Federal Territories Minister’s initials ‘RNC’.

Clad in light blue Baju Melayu, PKR’s communications chief Fahmi Fadzil was the second to enter the nomination centre, accompanied by proposer Sheik Johari Bux Sheik Yaacob Bux and seconder Zainal Ariffin Osman.

The first-time candidate was the first to arrive this morning with some 150 supporters at 8.30am, bearing the party’s "blue eye” flags.

The duo was finally joined by contender, PAS Lembah Pantai treasurer Fauzi Abu Bakar shortly after, who came with some 50 supporters, adding some vibrant green colour to the mix.

Fauzi, who has only been active in politics for slightly over a year, was accompanied by proposer Ahmad Sathola Khan and seconder Abdul Rahman Bakri.

The last time PAS fielded a candidate in Lembah Pantai was in 1995.
