KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 — Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman and his predecessor and former nemesis, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, are set to defend their respective Seberang Takir and Kijal state seats in GE14.

An official announcement of Terengganu Barisan Nasional’s GE14 candidates was made by caretaker Terengganu mentri besar Ahmad Razif today, which was also broadcast "live” on his Facebook page.

Ahmad Said’s candidacy and presence during the announcement will serve to bolster Terengganu BN’s spirits ahead of GE14 as the coalition seeks to maintain control over a state which has traditionally been a PAS stronghold.

There had been bad blood between Ahmad Razif and Ahmad Said.

Ahmad Razif’s sudden appointment back in 2014 to replace Ahmad Said as Terengganu MB was not well received and triggered a political crisis when the latter and another assemblyman briefly quit Umno, resulting in a hung assembly.

Today’s announcement seems to suggest that they have put aside their differences, at least for GE14.

Former Ajil assemblyman Datuk Rosol Wahid will take over Datuk Seri Jailani Johari’s place and contest the Hulu Terengganu parliamentary seat.

Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh is also set to defend the Besut parliamentary seat, while Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek will defend the Kemaman seat.
