KLANG, April 20 ― The family of late ultramarathoner Evelyn Ang expressed frustration today after the case of the driver who allegedly hit her last year was again postponed.

Ang’s husband, Dennis Loo, said the delays were mentally and emotionally draining for him and the family.

"We just want justice to be served, at the end of the day, justice delayed is justice denied,” he said.

"I still don’t sleep well, I wake up in the middle of the night and that’s it for me, it ruins my whole day and my family’s too.”

Loo expressed hope that the case will proceed as quickly as possible.

Earlier, prosecutor Jason R. Gomez said the defence team of Teoh Thiam Lim had requested for more time to examine the case evidence including the surveillance footage of the incident.

"The hearing date will be set pending the review of all evidence related to the case,” he told reporters later.

Magistrate Roslizi Sulaiman later set May 22 for the next case management.

Teoh was initially charged with reckless driving, but this was amended to causing death by reckless driving on March 9, after Ang died in hospital without ever regaining consciousness since the incident.

The offence is punishable by between two and 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine of between RM5,000 and RM20,000 upon conviction, and a revocation of his driving licence.

Teoh allegedly drove into Ang in a hit-and-run last December 10 during the Klang City International Marathon 2017.
