Six new faces make up 25 Perak DAP candidates, including Aziz Bari

IPOH, April 19 — Perak DAP will contest in seven parliamentary and 18 state seats in the 14th general election.

The candidates’ names were announced by party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng during a rally this evening held at Wisma Chin Woo here.

Besides Taiping parliamentary, six state seats will see new faces. The state constituencies are Canning, Tebing Tinggi, Jelapang, Menglembu, Astaka (formerly Sitiawan) and Keranji.

Of all the candidates, only state chairman Nga Kor Ming will contest two seats — Teluk Intan parliament and Aulong state seat.

State adviser Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, who in GE12 and GE13 contested in Beruas parliamentary and Sitiawan state seat, will only contest in Beruas parliament this election.

As speculated, constitution law expert Abdul Aziz Bari will stand in Tebing Tinggi while the incumbent Ong Boon Piow has been moved to Bercham.

Last week, incumbent Tebing Tinggi assemblyman Ong Boon Piow had announced Aziz’s candidacy without the party’s blessing.

National organising secretary Anthony Loke had said that Ong would be referred to the disciplinary committee for further action.

Taiping parliament seat will now be taken by incumbent Pokok Assam assemblyman Teh Kok Lim, while incumbent Ipoh Timur MP Thomas Su will be moved to Kampar.

State DAP secretary Wong Kah Woh, who is also incumbent Canning assemblyman, will replace Su in Ipoh Timur while Canning will now be contested by Wong’s political secretary Jenny Choy.
