PSM candidates declare assets

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 ― Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s (PSM) election candidates publicly declared their assets today.

PSM secretary-general Sivarajan Arumugam said his party has implemented the practice since 1999.

"We want the public to know that PSM and its candidates are transparent and accountable.

"As the saying goes, you enter politic poor and you exited politics poor. We want to show that our candidates enter politics not in the interest of  amassing personal wealth but to fight for the livelihood and welfare of the people,’’ he said.

Sivarajan, who will contest in the Kota Damansara state seat, said he hoped other politicians will follow suit.

PSM will contest in Batu Gajah, Cameron Highlands, Sungai Siput and Sungai Buloh parliamentary seats.

The 12 state seats consist of Bukit Lanjan, Jelai, Port Klang, Tronoh, Buntong, Sri Muda, Kota Lama, Kota Damansara, Menglembu, Semenyih, Jelapang, and Malim Nawar.
