PPBM to contest seven parliamentary seats in Kelantan

KOTA BARU, April 19 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) today announced it will contest seven parliamentary seats in Kelantan in the 14th general election on May 9.

The Pakatan Harapan component party identified the seats as Pasir Puteh, Tumpat, Bachok, Ketereh, Machang, Jeli and Gua Musang.

Its Kelantan Liaison Committee chairman, Datuk Kamaruddin Md Nor, in making the announcement at a press conference, said he would contest the Pasir Puteh seat.

He also said that Kelantan PPBM Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Sazmi Miah would stand in Machang; Datuk Nordin Salleh, Tumpat; Mohd Zulkifli Zakaria, Bachok; Mohd Radzi Mohd Jidin, Ketereh; Azran Deraman, Jeli; and Mohd Nor Hussin, Gua Musang.

Kelantan has 14 parliamentary seats, nine of which were held by PAS and five by BN in the last parliament.

Kamaruddin said the PPBM candidates for the state seats in Kelantan would be announced soon, along with the announcement of the candidates from the other Pakatan Harapan components, namely PKR, DAP and Amanah.

Kelantan has 45 state seats, with PAS having won 32; BN, 12, and PKR, one, in the last general election, in 2013. — Bernama
