PETALING JAYA, April 18 — A salesman pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to illicit possession of an electroshock instrument in a public area.
Lim Gat Chun, 32, allegedly kept the item in a car at Jalan Persiaran Klang, Putra Heights, Petaling, Selangor, at 2.50pm on April 14.
The charge under Section 7(1)(a) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, provides for a maximum jail term of seven years and whipping, on conviction.
The court set RM10,000 as bail with one surety, and May 21 for remention.
Deputy public prosecutor Abu Arsalnaa Zainal Abidin appeared for the prosecution while counsel Samry Masri represented the accused. — Bernama
