REMBAU, April 15 — Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin intends to continue to represent the Rembau constituents for the next five years.

The Rembau Member of Parliament for the past two terms consecutively said there was still much development that he wished to bring to the constituency.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has asked me to look up at other constituencies but I asked him to retain me here.

"I am a party man, so whatever he decides, I will accept,” he told the media after attending a programme of the Leader With the People and Handing Over of House Keys to victims of the fire whose homes had been repaired at the Pedas Public Housing, near here today.

Also present was the Chairman of the Committee on Human Capital, Youth and Sports as well as the Rembau Umno division Information Chief Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris.

Khairy was confident that he would continue to win in the constituency if he was selected to represent the Barisan Nasional.

"I am confident that I can defend the constituency based on the support received since the 2008 General Election which increased in 2013.

"There might be pressures in terms of current issues and so on but here, we practice the approach that Rembau is for Rembau,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said the government had allocated RM200,000 to repair six houses that were affected in the fire that broke out in August last year.

In the incident that occurred at about 6.15pm on August 4 last year, four houses were razed while the fire burnt the front portion of two other houses. — Bernama
