JOHOR BARU, April 15 — A total of 8.09kg of drugs worth RM566,000 and an automatic pistol with 54 bullets were seized by police during a series of raids in Tangkak, Ledang recently.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the raid was carried out on April 11 following the arrest of a 47-year-old man by Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) on April 6.
"Five days later, a joint raid was conducted by police personnel from Bukit Aman and the Tangkak district police’s NCID at a premise from 3.40pm to 9.30pm.
"In the raid we seized 8.09kg of drugs, believed to be syabu (crystal methamphetamine) worth about RM566,000 that can supply up to 4,000 addicts,” he said at a blood donation campaign in conjunction with the 211th Police Day celebrations held at Paradigm Mall here today.
Mohd Khalil said police also found a Stoeger 8000 Beretta automatic pistol, a magazine containing four bullets, five bullet shells, 50 live bullets and an ecstasy pills with logo blocks.
He said preliminary urine test found that the suspect was positive for methamphetamine abuse.
"The suspect has been remanded for seven days until April 20 for further investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 8/8A of the Firearms Act (Increases Penalties) 1971,” he said.
